Back to School... a bit after the fact

A family photo of the 4 of us walking Cate to the first day of 4th grade. Pretty typical - Dad, Cate and Addie enjoying the moment... me behind trying to freeze and store their enjoyment, casting a shadow in the process.

Addie happily saying hello to a teacher and goodbye to dad.

My tiny big girl, learning the ways of her new world as a grade schooler.

Look who is in orchestra this year! Cate, apparently, plays the viola. That was news to me until the moment I was called upon to procure said instrument. I have seen her unpack it, hold it, clean it, repack it... but her virtuosity is evidently, still in store for us.

All in all, they are both pretty jazzed about school. Happy new year!

What a big girl Addie. Going to your big school - hope you find good friends, learn new things, enjoy your teachers, become all the girl you were made to be, and teach others a thing or two about life.

I cant believe it. just the thought of Alex walking into school makes me overwhelmed and sad, and extremely excited.

What a big girl!

So in other words, Jessica, you feel like a mother of a 1 year old who is both anxious for him to progress, and desperate for him to stay small! Yeah, I can relate. I felt that way when both my girls were Alex's age. It goes both at the speed of light and also slow as molasses. How is that possible? With this second one, I've finally accepted that there is no answer to that. It just is.

I love the first picture of your family walking. Both of your girls are so beautiful. I feel blessed that I can keep update on their progress. Good luck in school Addie and Cate. Like Jessica I feel the same way about Noah starting school
